Hotel des Menus Plaisirs

Built in 1741-1748, this hotel housed the prop-rooms for the court's games and spectacles.

An ephemeral structure for welcoming the Assembly of Notables was erected in its high courtyard, as was the one for the Estates General in 1789. It is there that the deputies constituted as the National Assembly voted for the abolition of privileges and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. The buildings are now home to the Versailles Baroque Music Center.
