La voie de l'écuyer opus 2010

This equestrian show is choreographed by Bartabas for the riders of the Versailles Academy of Equestrian Arts. Lusitanian carrousel, sorayas with long reins, horseback fencing and equestrian improvisation are performed to the sound of selected compositions by Bartabas in a 1:15 show. ‘La Voie de l'Écuyer Opus 2010’ (‘The Way of the Rider Opus 2010’) is followed by an open-house tour of the stables, remarkable for their size and the nobility of their architecture.

February 12 through April 29. Saturday 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m., as well as Thursday, February 25, and april 22 and 29 at 3:00 p.m.

Musical Fountains

A must for lovers of water and music, set in the loveliest natural domain in France, and devoted to the pleasures of the senses and celebrations. A musical stroll past the legendary fountains and groves of the Versailles Palace gardens, created by Le Notre at the request of Louis XIV.

From April 3rd to October 31st, 2010, every Saturday and Sunday (except Saturday May 1st), as well as May 13 and July 14. Fountains playing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Also on Tuesdays from May 18th to June 29th and on April 2nd. Fountains playing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The royal serenades in the Hall of Mirrors

To relive the flamboyant times of the reign of Louis XIV, visit the King's apartments to the sound of a serenade right before the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes. Come watch a Grand Siècle ball, with an ensemble of baroque musicians and dancing couples.

Grandes Eaux Nocturnes

At nightfall, to the sound of music baroque, visitors can discover illuminated views and groves, with sublimely spouting waters. A magical stroll topped off by magnificent fireworks on the Grand Canal.

Les Noces—The Rite of Spring

In this France-Russia year, Versailles pays homage to the Ballets Russes. Preljocaj Ballet-Choreography Angelin Preljocaj. Music by Igor Stravinsky. For Les Noces, Angelin Preljocaj has created a galaxy of duos aerial colliding with earthly reality, metaphorical newlyweds carried away by their passions. His Rites, at the opposite extreme, are a whirlwind, a cyclone around a queen offered up in sacrifice, who will be stripped bare in this vast animal "climax" created by Stravinsky in its orchestral plenitude, opening the musical 20th Century.

The Noces Royales of Louis XIV. Fireworks Display by Groupe F.

In 1660 the young Sun King started a journey through the French provinces to reach Pheasant Island on the Spanish border, where he was to be wed. Royal entrances, ramparts attacks, and princely ceremonies are the pretext behind the virtuoso fireworks choreographies of Groupe F.
